Olivier's Moth Flies Into St. Moritz

In August 2010, High Finance Group employee Olivier Vidal travelled to St Moritz, to race in the International Moth European Championships.

Olivier has been competing in sailing competitions since he was eight years old and was a member of the British Junior, Youth and Olympic Development Programmes.

Olivier is now racing as an amateur and was placed 23rd out of 85 competitors in a field including ten former Olympians and numerous professional sailors. The Moth class is a very high performance racing boat and features hydro-foiling craft travelling at up to 30 Knots (35mph). SYZ & Co sponsored the event and commissioned a helicopter and film crew to follow the event. A series of event videos can be seen here.

Olivier will be training throughout the winter at Hayling Island Club. He hopes to compete at the National, European and World Championships in 2011.

In September he will look to reclaim the National Championship he won in 2008 in the RS 800 class.
